Carl and Marion Hager opened their cruise travel business in Scottsdale in February 1992 under the trade name GalaxSea Cruises.  By the mid-1990's, it became apparent that their cruise clients were interested in more than just cruising. They would often travel independently, and request organized tours or more active vacations like walking tours or river rafting.

As their company grew and the Hagers added to their staff of cruise specialists, they focused on selecting experienced individuals who specialized in tours, independent, and active travel.

In January 1998, they purchased Bob Kenney's Worldwide Travel located in Sun City, Arizona. The agency had been in the Sun City location for 13 years as a full service agency. This acquisition, along with that of Davidson Travel of Phoenix, added experienced travel professionals, the ability for the company to issue air tickets and expanded their base of vacation clients.

Since the inception of their business, the Hagers have seen significant changes in the travel industry. Today's travelers want unique and unusual travel experiences. To better reflect their ability to deliver the neeeds of today's travelers, in 2004 Carl and Marion changed the name of their company to Hager's Journeys.
